Beating a dead horse
When will they do something about the selling and buying system in this game. To put it bluntly, it sucks and everyone knows it. Even the forum to sell is a joke. I posted at 3pm today and my post is 4 pages back. I cant bump it because of bandwidth I guess... People asking for this and that when a major aspect of any game is broken. But hey! Lets ask for a role playing district and make a sticky for it! Can we please fix the broken things before we try to add new things?

i completely agree with original poster
in-game selling is a really bad system, and selling on forums is no good either since hardly anyone will ever see what you put up because it will be off page 1 in half an hour or so, and no one ever reads past page 1 of a forum
in conclusion: please give Guild Wars an Auction House ASAP

I think the limitation in place helps keep everyone from exchanging items to easily, and I abore the idea of an Auction House, it just creates voids of cash and crashes the economy in spiraling prices.
I think they should have trading districts, or even a trading city that is made for crafting materials, armors, and trading. But making An Auction House will only replace the difficulty of finding and selling items with the difficulty of obtaining gold to meet outragious prices which will be exploited by players who have advanced further.

well lions arch is supposed to be the trading city if you follow the lore of the game. Its a subtle hint that if you want to trade stuff you should head there.
As for selling on the forums complaining about that is moot. simply the forums are not run by arenanet and therefore your choice on which forum to sell is totally up to you and if your item is falling off fast don't sell there.
What i think would be nice a bazaar of sorts. If you are looking to sell you 'set up shop' the item is placed before you(on a pedistal floats whatever) but any player can hover thier mouse over and see exactly what it does.
Looking for a specific thing say a rune or an axe? the bazzaar would come with special fisters that would 'hide' the item types that you don't want allowing you to easily locate the item types you want so you can peruse each.
Also the only way to discuss price would be to click on the item you want to buy. this would then put you in a group with the seller and any other interested buyers. you then haggle over the price and if all is satisfactory you would then trade. The bazzar would have public chats disabbled so that only guild, party and pm work in it. This would hopefully help ease up on spamming the channel to try to sell if a selling distirct opened up and totally made the chat useless.
the trade channel would still exist in the rest of the game but it would be more used for spur of the moment stuff like oh i need 20 more wood for this item i shoudl see if anyone here will sell me it instead of having to jump cities just to buy wood.

Amen to that again.
It would totaly rock. I like this trading thing now, but thats just me, when i want to go trade, i pick a few materials or things and get going for half an hour or more. Just shouting checking market prices, checking other players prices, sometimes writing things down, its like the stock market
But an auction house or a bazaar could be very asskicking indeed. Just put up ure stuff, browse trought other peoples stuff and make it a day of for the family

In final fantasy online we have an auction house and the bazaar. the auction house is a controlled by gold sellers its evil. I wouldnt say i could not recommend that at all!! The prices just get inflated over time. A bazaar would be nice to make it a bit simpler for going afk and selling in lions arch. a bazaar really would be awesome. it would require some work to implement though

in RYL (Risk Your Life) you could set up a small shop ( nothing more than a shop icon above your head you could click on and see an inventory) and set prices for w/e you wanted to sell. it was very efficient and it did away with WTS: NOOB CLOTHING 200k!!!
thats what Anet needs to do.

An (AH) would be a wonderful idea. It has been mentioned but more people want it, better chance we have to get it. It will not mess up the economy, you will more than likely see prices fluxuate a bit before leveling off, but that happens anywhere. Problem with other games and their economy is that D2 and FFXI for example have really rare drops. To get those drops you have people who use bots and completely camp them out for a living. GW does not have items of that sort. Yes everyone wants flame swords and other things, prices may drop or increase but it already does that. If anything an AH would level out prices and people could find items and buy them much easier let alone not having to spend time spamming. Some sort of trading system (AH or other) is more likely to improve two things: 1) easier to buy/sell items (also reduces time spend doing that increasing PvE and PvP time playing), and 2) OMG 10000X less spam.

Not that I'm trying to promote some other site but I've had some success with rpgtraders. I've sold about 6-7 items on there within the past week. But yes, an auction house if a definate must.

I disagree about both points. I do not think that the Devs intended for any meaningful trading to be impossible. You shouldn't waste hours trying to sell a couple things. If anything, that could drive up prices (time=money, remember )
Also, the Auction House would only inflate prices a little, and then it would level off. Say an item usually sells for 400. Nobody is going to pay 1000 for it, but someone may pay 500 for it. A little inflation is all that is. I think we are experiencing more inflation due to other reasons (like the amount of gold entering the economy is insane, while the amount leaving forever is minimal)
